“Increasing Efficiency and Reducing your CO emissions with Fitch Gas Reformer Catalyst”

Implementation of Fitch Fuel Catalys in Greensboro Plant from Imperial Tobacco – NC US in a Babcock and Wilcox Boiler 75MMBTU.

Pre-Combustion Catalyst of America hosts a 30-minute forum, featuring prominent guests discussing both the financial and environmental benefits of using the Fitch Gas Reformer on their equipment.

Imperial Tobacco manufactures and markets a range of cigarettes, fine cut and smokeless tobacco products, mass market cigars, and tobacco accessories such as papers and tubes.

CHALLENGE: Prior to the Fitch installation, the boiler was required to run more than 10,000 pounds of steam and high excess air to keep the CO levels down. With the Fitch installed, we were able to drop the steam pressure down and lower excess air, bringing the CO down to a significantly lower level.

· 15% excess air was required between minimum fire and up to 30% of the boiler capacity.
· Boiler efficiency ranged between @ 72 – 74% efficiency at lower ranges.
